Limelight Story

“If Worth Doing Do it Well”
This has been a motto in my family for generations and come from my maternal family “Bagshaw”. John Stokes Bagshaw was one of South Australia’s first inventors/engineer and was one of the earliest free settlers to South Australia. Famous for making farm machinery and
machines that were used in the wine industry like crushers and pumps. Importantly, for Nick Haselgrove Wines, the Bagshaw family are one of the founding families of the business today back in 1981.
Limelight aims to link the Haselgrove and Bagshaw family stories to create their own place in the vinous history of Australia.
Share our Limelight. Our re-release engages older, historic wines from Nick’s cellar then compared to the style of the wine today.
Syrah is also commonly known as Shiraz but for this style it was always about the spicyer elements of the gape matched with subtle oak maturation.
To see the wines fully mature and singing is a truly rewarding result of winemaking. Age cannot be created you have to wait.
The first wine was created in 1996 and went to 1999 when Nick was winemaker at the historical ‘Kays’ Winery making McLaren Vale wine. A corporate journey saw the brand sleep for 21 years until 2021.
Fabulous vineyards were used to create these wines and was only made in tiny quantities — which remains the same today.
We have released these wines to celebrate the past and our forebears which opens the door for the future releases of wines from our cellars.
