Cellar Door Taster #1
Blackbilly Red & White

Here’s 6 wines from our Blackbilly label, great wines in the continuing Blackbilly tradition.
1 x Blackbilly Sauvignon Blanc
Colour: Bright and fresh with green colour and light straw tint. Youthful.
Nose: An aromatic style with tropical fruit, ginger and light herb with a green apple edge.
Palate: Medium plate weight with bright green & tropical fruits with a citric, lime juice
nuance. Dry yet fruity palate adds a deliciousness and a fresh clean finish.
1 x Blackbilly Pinot Gris
Colour: Medium straw green with a subtle ‘rose’ tint.
Nose: Lifted aromatics reminiscent of nashi pear and citrus flowers and a hint of lemon.
Palate: Clean, crisp with full fruit and crisp acid combined Bright and fresh with like pear graininess and slightly sweet finish.
1 x Blackbilly Chardonnay
Colour: Medium straw with a slight green hues
Nose: White peach, lemon curd with a waxy macadamia nut note. Light buttery complexity and some funky aromatics from the winemaking techniques. Should develop a flinty note with cellaring.
Palate: Clean, crisp acid with stone fruit and lemon zest/pith/curd. Some phenolic lift from the oak adds interest and appeal. Needs a little time to meld together.
1 x Blackbilly Shiraz:
Colour: Deep rich purple with lively brightness
Nose: Fresh blue fruits with a touch of lavender and five spice. Fresh and jubey but not at all over-ripe.
Palate: Medium to full bodied with a nice line of acidity complexed with interesting oak notes of vanilla, light cedar and a nice long, satisfying finish.
1 x Blackbilly Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre (GSM)
Colour: Deep red magenta with a brick red, purple hue.
Nose: Cedar and nutty oak note with a hint of ethereal vanilla with blue fruits that is reminiscent of mulberry. A touch of liquorice, cedar and crisp acidity and alcohol lift adds complexity.
Palate: Ripe and fleshy up front black fruits combine well with a solid mid palate highlighting oak tannin and flavour. Crisp acidity keeps the freshness and appeal of this full bodied style.
Potential: This vintage has produced fruity wines that have medium term cellaring potential.
1 x Blackbilly Sangiovese*
Colour: Deep red magenta with a brick red, purple hue.
Nose: Savoury and spicy with a hint of nettle and earth. Some forest floor complexity and Morello cherry.
Palate: Powdery tannin, medium bodied with a long persistent aftertaste and crisp acidity.
Potential: This vintage has produced fruity wines with medium cellar potential.
1 x Blackbilly Old Vine Shiraz*
Colour: Deep red magenta with a brick red, light purple hue.
Nose: Ripe and fleshy invoking memories of Turkish delight, pot pourri and underlying raspberry fruit notes. Signs of oak maturation by way of a light cedar oak note but shows remarkable freshness.
Palate: A firm, tannic palate with some drying oak complexity. Quite fruity with integration and a long crisp finish and excellent length of flavour persistence. A hint of dark chocolate bitterness adds complexity.

Premium James Haselgrove & Clarence Hill

Here’s 2 of our high end premiums from McLaren Vale, wines of distinction.
2 x Clarence Hill Reserve Shiraz
Colour: Dark cherry red with purple and brick red hue.
Nose: Blueberry fruits with mocha, malt dark liquorice & cola nuance. Spiciness and some new leather add interest along with cedary oak complexity.
Palate: Full bodied, firm tannin with a ripe, dark fruited palate with a hint of plum, vanilla and cedar. Crisp acidity with a well-balanced palate with a hint of forest floor earthiness and light balsamic lift.
Potential: This vintage has produced savoury, textured wines that have long term cellaring potential. Sealed under DIAM cork. Ideally decant on opening and allow to breathe for a hour or two.
1 x 2014 Futures Shiraz
Colour: Dark purple & magenta with an opaque hue.
Nose: Blueberry & Mulberry fruit with cedary oak. Hints of licorice, cola with a distinct black pepper note. A little lifted by alcohol but this will settle as fruit characters become stronger.
Palate: Full bodied dark fruit notes with stony minerality and warm peppery finish. Crisp acidity with even tannin and persistence on the palate.
Potential: This vintage has medium to long term potential for aging (8-15 years). Sealed under DIAM cork. Ideally decant on opening and allow to breathe for a hour or two.

Here’s 3 different wines from our Clarence Hill label, great wines and fantastic value.
2 x 2016 Clarence Hil Chardonnay
Colour: Bright straw green with light honey tint.
Nose: Zesty & youthful with white peach, melon, nectarine and spices with an element of citrus flowers.
Palate: Low oak usage highlights pristine white peach with crisp citric acidity with length and richness. Whilst young, this wine is expected to fill out and develop some nutty nuance.
Potential: Drink now but some bottle maturation will allow the development of nuts and brioche.
2 x 2016 Clarence Hill Shiraz
Colour: Deep cherry red.
Nose: Fresh lifted mulberry / raspberry fruit and light mocha aromatic is nicely weighted by subtle oak.
Palate: Medium bodied with fresh, crisp acidity and nice length of fruit. Persistent finish with long fruity after taste and aged notes from bottle maturation.
Potential: This vintage has produced fruity wines that have medium term cellaring potential.
2 x 2014 Clarence Hill Cabernet Sauvignon
Colour: Deep cherry red.
Nose: Youthful aromatic of tomato, cassis, mulberry and light leafiness.
Palate: Full to medium bodied in style with ripe fruits with a varietal lift and young tannin on the palate. A rich palate showcases fruit and a crisp acid finish.
Potential: Once this wine has settled down in bottle we would expect medium to long term cellaring.

We ship anywhere in Australia. There may be a small additional charge to ship to some rural locations. Someone over the age of 18 must sign for the delivery – or our courier will leave a card for you to arrange delivery acceptance.
