Blackbilly Range

Our name is inspired by the ubiquitous grass (or Yakka) tree that slowly grows around our vineyards in the scrubby bushland. It is also a road that borders our regions in which we grow our grapes. Our Blackbilly scrub is subject to bushfires which burn the plants into a black stump which then re-grows with its characteristic spear shaped flowers that typify our icon for this wine. Long lived, reliable and enduring are the inspirations that this range of wines draws from the ‘Blackbilly’.

Beyond Blackbilly’s core range of Chardonnay, Pinot gris, Sauvignon blanc, Shiraz and a Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvedre blend, the additional Winemakers’ Playground wines – Sangiovese – represent newer styles that excite and inspire the winemakers, and have been released as impressive small-batch trials.

Product Description

An eye for value and an aim to provide generosity in sharply defined flavours sits at the core of Blackbilly wines. Since its inception in 2001, Blackbilly has produced consistent results through its discerning selection of high quality fruit while maintaining excellent value. To get the desired results, Blackbilly sources fruit from across the Adelaide region for crisp white wines, and to Langhorne Creek, Currency Creek and the old vineyards of McLaren Vale for rich, distinctive reds.
